This is the second in a series that I am calling Hidden Things. This piece is titled “Hidden Complexity”, and it images the complexity that surrounds us while concealed in simple packaging. The dull, brown phyllo of a wasp nest hides inner vibrancy. Or an evening Morning Glory bud, butterfly chrysalis, ripe pomegranate or intact geode - complex structures hidden from view by a skin of simplicity.
When the two halves of this piece are mated, uniform lines create simple patterns, even as they carve wonderfully intricate forms within.

I am humbled and proud to announce that this piece - “Hidden Complexity” - was awarded the Best of Show from Grey Cube Gallery for their July 2021 show Patterns.
